episode 279: the GLP1 blindspot nobody is talking about
GLP-1s are often talked about as appetite suppressants.
But I think that's only part of the story.
Because for some people, these medications aren't suppressing an appetite at all—they're helping regulate an appetite that feels completely out of control.
But for other people?
They may be doing something very different.
In this episode, I'm talking about the difference between appetite regulation and appetite suppression, why that distinction matters, and what it means for how we think about hunger, food noise, weight loss, and health.
I get into:
* Why appetite regulation and appetite suppression aren't the same thing
* The role food noise does (and doesn't) play in all of this
* Why your experience on a GLP-1 might be very different from someone else's
* The potential downside of having too little appetite
* The questions I think we should all be asking when it comes to these medications
This is one of those episodes that got me thinking long after I stopped recording—and I know it'll get you thinking too.
